Fussy Baby

Have you ever had a fussy baby and wished you had something to calm them down? With my second daughter I found something that calms her down. She is more fussy than my first daughter.

Where I Hear Baby Mine?

I always liked the song from the Disney movie Dumbo called Baby Mine. It’s the scene where Dumbo is being rocked my his mom while she is locked up. I searched for the song on iTunes and found a version sang by a group called Celtic Woman. Years ago I saw them perform on TV and I loved the way they sang. I knew I had to buy this song.

When my daughter gets fussy I play her Baby Mine and she calms down immediately. I have played this song for her since she was about 3 months old. She is now 11 months old and it still calms her down especially in the car. I bought the album because it had other calming music for her.

View from my window on Aug. 29th

Brooklyn’s first day of second grade was suppose to be on August 28th. Well Hurricane Harvey came and changed those plans. On Saturday August 26th we started to get rain from the hurricane. On Sunday August 27th I got a message saying school was close on Monday and Tuesday. So the first day of school was going to be on Wednesday. We continued to get a lot of rain from the hurricane. The school district sent another message stating that school was now starting on September 5th. This message was sent before some of our area started to flood. The flooding has effected yet again the first day of school. As of August 30th our school district might start on September 7th.

If Brooklyn does start on the 7th then she would of had an extra 10 days of summer break. She is ready to start school to learn and see her friends. Being locked up in the house for 4 days was starting to get to her. Hopefully school does started on September 7th and the kids can start learning.

I am one of the lucky ones who didn’t experience flooding in their homes. I want to share with you some of the pictures that some of my family members did go through. They had their land flood and their car go in the water.

My prayers go out to my Houston family. Houston Strong.

I love watching videos about people showing what’s in their bags on YouTube. On Pinterest I recently started searching this topic. I am enjoying reading peoples blogs about what’s in their bags.

I want to share what’s in my current bag I’m carrying now. Recently I purchased a Rebecca Minkoff Marlow Mini (different color: http://shopstyle.it/l/gNRu) in the color black. Since this is a smaller bag I don’t have much in it. It holds what is needed everyday when I go out.

List of my items:

1. Coach card holder in grain leather with rainbow
2. Louis Vuitton 6 key holder in Damier Ebene Canvas (http://shopstyle.it/l/gNS0)
3. Louis Vuitton key pouch in Damier Ebene Canvas
4. The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer- Lemongrass with aloe (http://shopstyle.it/l/gNTv)
5. Victoria Secret- Bombshell perfume
6. iPhone 7 plus- Jet Black
7. EasyAcc charger
8. Charging cord
9. NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick- Lipli 20 French Maid (http://shopstyle.it/l/gNVP)
10. Chap Stick- Sugar Cookie
11. Movie ticket
12. Hair tie

In my bag I am using my Coach card holder as a wallet. There is about 9 cards and some cash. I am surprised on how much this little card holder can hold. I have my car, house and mail box keys in my Louis Vuitton 6 key holder. There is a slot where I can a couple of cards in if I need to. I also have a Louis Vuitton key pouch, but I only have some reward cards in it.

Since I am kind of a germophobe I have to have some hand sanitizer with me. I have the Honest Company hand sanitizer and it’s a spray bottle. Having a spray bottle makes it easier to clean my hands and surfaces that needs some cleaning. Everyday I have to have perfume on and there are days I’ll forget to put some on. That’s why I have this portable Victoria Secret Bombshell perfume in my bag. I need to make sure I smell good every time I leave my house.

Of course, I have to have my iPhone 7 plus phone in my bag. Sometimes my phone isn’t fully charged so I carry an EasyAcc portable charger. When I’m out running errands I like having a backup charger with me. At TJ Maxx I found this little cord to charge my phone. It’s small to fit perfectly in all my bags I carry.

In my bags I always try to keep one lipstick and chap stick in it. Right now I have a NYX lingerie liquid lipstick. This is a good everyday color for my skin color. I have to have chap stick with me since I tend to get chapped lips. This sugar cookie chap stick is my favorite flavor. I love the way it smells.

There are a couple of random items in my bag at times. There is a movie pass and a hair tie. Normally I keep an extra hair tie on my wrist, but my daughter put this one in my bag. I went to the movies the other day and I had to leave. The manager was able to give me a ticket to come back.

I am planning on writing more blogs like this. Thanks for reading.

Has someone ever ask you “How did you get your kids name?” or “Where did their name come from?” I’ve had people ask these questions a few times. Brooklyn and Emileigh (pronounced Emily) are my girls names. Where I live you don’t hear the name Brooklyn  very often and you don’t see the name Emileigh spelled like this.

Brooklyn is named after the New York City borough.  I was going to name her something else, but my sister did not like the name I had chosen. I heard the name Brooklyn a couple of times and really like the way it sounded. My sister really like the name when I mentioned it to her. In 2006, I visited New York City for the first time and I fell in love with the city. I am glad I was able to name her after a place I love. Now whenever she sees the Brooklyn Bridge she calls it her bridge.

With Emileigh my husband and I had a hard time picking a name for her. We wanted a name that would go well with Brooklyn’s name. When we finally agreed on Emileigh’s name I wanted to spell it Emilie. My husband wanted it spelled Emileigh because he wanted to name her after me. He liked the idea of having my name in her name since my middle name is Leigh. I agreed to spell it this way because I loved the thought behind it. I love that Emileigh’s name is spelled differently.
