Brooklyn’s first day of second grade was suppose to be on August 28th. Well Hurricane Harvey came and changed those plans. On Saturday August 26th we started to get rain from the hurricane. On Sunday August 27th I got a message saying school was close on Monday and Tuesday. So the first day of school was going to be on Wednesday. We continued to get a lot of rain from the hurricane. The school district sent another message stating that school was now starting on September 5th. This message was sent before some of our area started to flood. The flooding has effected yet again the first day of school. As of August 30th our school district might start on September 7th.

If Brooklyn does start on the 7th then she would of had an extra 10 days of summer break. She is ready to start school to learn and see her friends. Being locked up in the house for 4 days was starting to get to her. Hopefully school does started on September 7th and the kids can start learning.

I am one of the lucky ones who didn’t experience flooding in their homes. I want to share with you some of the pictures that some of my family members did go through. They had their land flood and their car go in the water.

My prayers go out to my Houston family. Houston Strong.

I know saying sorry doesn’t help nor change anything but i’d still like to say sorry for what you guys went through, I’ve been seeing pictures and it looked really bad, I know it will take a while to fix the damage . It sucks that your daughter’s first day of school is going to be delayed but like you said, you are one of the lucky ones. All the best, you are in my prayers.

Thank you. Went to visit my mom who is 2 towns away from me and there was still some water on the road. I was a little nerves to drive through it, but it was that bad.

It’s difficult to ask a child for patience, but if conditions aren’t safe, there’s nothing to do but wait 🙁
Hopefully, classes won’t be pushed back again.

I’m hoping it doesn’t either. Brooklyn is so ready to start school. From what I heard they won’t have to make up these days they are missing. Thanks for reading 🙂

Hope everything is ok where you live. My family and I are good. My mom had some damage to her house, but we are here for her. Our city will get back to normal and stronger than ever.

Wow, this is one of those reads that puts things into perspective. We are living abroad away from all of the American news, but we’ve definitely felt for everyone affected by the flooding. My kids could not have had a more different first day of school abroad. I hope Brooklyn’s first day is full of great memories!
